Fight the Lion is hitting the road to help out the band Parmalee.  What happened?  Here's the dish:

On Monday September 20, 2010 Parmalee had just finished performing at a nightclub in Rock Hill, SC when two armed men forced their way onto the band's RV and demanded money. Detectives say the suspects pointed a gun at vocalist Matt Thomas, at which point his brother Scott Thomas came out from the back of the RV with his own gun and told the robbers to leave. According to the police incident report “It was at that time the male suspects fired on Scott and he returned fire. A shootout ensued, which lead to both robbers along with Scott being shot. Lieutenant Brad Redfearn of the Rock Hill police says one of the robbers, Demario Burris, died at the scene, the other suspect, Dytavis Hinton, ran about a hundred yards then collapsed. - http://www.helpparmalee.com/

The festival will feature an extravaganza of the work of independent, creative artists and musicians in a fun, vibrant, family-friendly setting. Participation is open to all artistic disciplines, including dance, live music, visual arts, sculpture, graffiti arts, fashion, skateboarding, local and international culture, and more.

Check out the list of sponsors - there's gonna be good food and drink and a TON of stuff to check out.

It's a new location that is hard to find in Google Maps, but here's a link to the street corner where the festival will be.  It's a short walk from the Navy Yard Metro stop.
